How old was someone on a past date?

Many questions need ageas of a historical day: a photo caption, a school form from years ago, or “how old were they when X happened?” That is the same math as a normal age calculator, with the as-of date set in the past instead of today.

Completed years, not “almost”

• Count birthdays that have already occurred on or before the as-of date.
• Someone born 15 Mar 1990 is still 29 on 14 Mar 2020, and turns 30 on 15 Mar 2020.

Worked examples

1. DOB 1 Jul 2000, as-of 1 Jul 2018: exactly 18 years (birthday included).
2. DOB 1 Jul 2000, as-of 30 Jun 2018: 17 years completed.
3. Need years + months + days: same as today’s age math —exact age breakdown.

Leap-day births
